A Monday Motivation Discussion Topic

The first time I heard the term “Inspiration is everywhere” was from Mark Sherman. It was the second day of our quilting tour in Ireland and we were driving up to the Cliffs of Moher. Along the way we stopped at a pullout that overlooked an entire valley of beautiful pastures and hills. I just couldn’t stop staring at the beauty of the landscape. And then, he said it.
Inspiration is everywhere.
At that moment, my eye’s interpretation shifted. I began seeing the individual shades of green and breaking them down into ways to turn them into a quilt design. That was also the beginning of my ’40 Shades’ quilt pattern. That pattern is in my ‘Tips for the Traveling Quilter’ book.
Ever since then, I began looking at the world in a whole different way. I started seeing patterns in shapes and colors. My mind would instinctively begin working out a way to turn color patterns into quilt designs. Almost as if I were wearing ‘quilt shaped’ glasses.
