January 2021 #Quiltblockmania Theme is Romance!

After the disaster that was the year 2020, I decided to begin 2021 by jumping in on the fun of Quilt Block Mania!
What is Quilt Block Mania?
Each month over 30 Quilt pattern designers create fun and FREE quilt block patterns based on a common theme. The only rules are the blocks are all 12 x 12 inches finished and fit the theme and chosen color palette. Other than that, anything goes!
Seriously, in previous months I’ve seen everything from traditionally pieced to applique to foundation paper pieced quilt blocks. And each designer gets to put their own specialty into each block design.
To kick things off for 2021, and in preparation for Valentines day in just a few short weeks, January ‘s theme is ‘Romance’. And this is the chosen color palette:

Fun, right!? Because the theme is all about ‘romance’ I thought the perfect block to add for my first FREE Quilt Block Mania pattern would be the ‘Rose Buds’ quilt block used in my Rose Window Quilt!
The block is traditionally pieced, however you should pay special attention to those seams. Using a scant 1/4″ seam allowance will help tremendously when making the final 9 patch block assembly.

As you can see, this block looks fabulous in the chosen ‘Romance’ color palette. However, it also works beautifully in many different color combos. Including these shades of ‘Rose’ fabrics in my Rose Window Quilt pattern!

Ohh your block is so pretty. So many ideas for this block going around in my head. Thanks for sharing.
That’s wonderful Lori! I can’t wait to see what you make with it!
Thanks for making the download so easy. Because you did, I downloaded it and then subscribed to the newsletter. I usually skip it if a newsletter is required, but because you made it easy and it’s my choice, I did.
Thank you so much for singing up Susan! Yes, I believe that if something says it’s ‘free’ then it should actually be free. That’s why I never put a newsletter requirement on my free stuff. Which is why I appreciate my subscribers so much more! We are going to have a ton of fun this year!
