Charming Spiral Quilt Along Week One

Join me for week one of my 2025 Winter Project!

Every winter brings a down time for us travelers. However, it also brings more time for Quilting! Therefore, every year I try to challenge myself to try a new project or technique to keep improving my quilting skills. This year, it’s all about Pre-Cuts!

This week we cover our first Quilt Blocks – Strip Piecing!

Covered in this week’s video:

• How to accurately Cut strips from fabric yardage using a straight ruler
• How to Sew and Press your strips
• How to Trim your Strip Blocks

Required Materials:

For this week’s Quilt Blocks, I used strips from one Jelly Roll package and then cut additional strips from my Background fabric.

You will also need:

• 12 1/2 x 12 1/2 Square Ruler
• Cutting Mat
• Rotary Cutter

About the Charming Spiral Quilt Pattern

As I mentioned above, Charming Spirals is made almost exclusively using pre-cuts. However, you can also choose to make yours using scraps from your stash or actual yardage. It’s completely up to you!

Very much a Beginner Friendly Quilt Pattern!

I purposely designed the Charming Spiral Quilt Pattern so that even a beginner can participate. And yet it has enough spark to keep an experienced quilter having fun!

Techniques included:

• 9 Patch Grid Piecing
• Strip Piecing
• “Crazy” Border
• Endless 4 corner spiral – ‘5 Points’
• And a few of the dreaded Y-Seam blocks

But DON’T FRET! With each weekly video I’ll walk you through my easy peazy techniques that gives a darn near Perfect Point every time!
