Everyone knows about the big New York tourist attractions like the Statue of Liberty, Broadway, the various museums, etc. just to name a few. But I wanted to give a few suggestions of some lesser known attractions I think you’ll enjoy. Welcome to New York!
- the American Folk Art Museum in New York City – wonderful textile collection!!
- Kykuit: the Rockefeller Estate – INCREDIBLE gardens!!
- New York Old City Hall Transit Station
- George Eastman Museum in Rochester – especially if you’re a lover of photography and film!
- the Met Cloisters – there’s just nothing like it!
- Storm King Art Center – a huge outdoor sculpture museum in New Windsor

In NY I used to go to a quaint little shop called Ivy Thimble, not sure if it’s still in existence, but if it is it would be a great shop to add to your must visit shops in NY.
Sadly, I can’t seem to find any evidence that this store is still open. 🙁

Sew Sewcial in Norwich, NY. Bettyanne Jansen, the owner, is one of the most talented and generous quilters you will ever meet. In addition to fabric and notions, she offers long arm services.
