Sweet Home Alabama

When you search online for “quilters in Alabama” a flood of articles, videos and stories appear about the infamous Gee’s Bend quilters. These ladies are, arguably, some of the most famous hand quilters in our entire quilting community.

Named after James Gee, originally from Hallifax County, NC (1816), Gee’s Bend is located across the river from Camden, Alabama. Gee brought with him 18 slaves and established a cotton plantation.

Throughout the years since, this community has used faith and quilting as their strongest connection. Each generation passing down their passion and creativity to the next, insuring their long lasting art.
