The Grand Canyon State

Welcome to Arizona!
Arizona is one of my favorite states in the US. Not just because I lived there for a few years, but also because there really is no other place like it. From the Grand Canyon to the National Park in Sierra Vista, the beauty of the desert is remarkable!
If you plan a trip to Arizona, I highly recommend taking the back roads. As geocachers, we stumbled upon so many amazing things out in the desert that we never would have found as regular “tourists”.
For instance, the snake ranch down by Bisbee near the Mexican border. Not located on any map, It is basically a gigantic junk yard filled with things from all over the world. A Vietnam vet and his son run the property and the collection is theirs. All items they’ve collected over the years as well as things they’ve found in the desert. We even saw a group of wild mustangs walk past while we were there!
If you are looking for history, art, culture, inspiration and just a little bit of magic, Arizona is the place to be!
SOME POINTS OF INTEREST NOT TO BE MISSED:
- Arizona Historical Society – 7 great museums!
- Antelope Canyon – One of the most beautiful places in the US!
- Arizona-Senora Desert Museum in Tucson
- Any of the Rail Tours!
- Jerome – the Tombstone of northern AZ
- Speaking of… Tombstone is a Must stop! Be sure to check out the old silver mine!

Thanks for the comprehensive list! Sadly SAS Fabrics in Tucson closed.
Thank you for letting me know. I have updated the list. It’s always sad when a quilt shop closes. 🙁
There is also the SAS Fabrics Superstore in Phoenix at 9840 N 19th Avenue, 85021.
Thank you for bringing this to my attention! I didn’t know that the SAS stores were not connected. I have updated the list.
