Located in the same location since it’s purchase in 1984, Sew ‘N Save quilt shop has anything and everything a quilter could need!

Recently, I was invited by the Lighthouse Quilters Guild in Racine, WI to speak at their lovely guild. Since I arrived a little early before the guild meeting began, I decided to check out a local favorite quilt shop… Sew ‘N Save!

Nestled inside this strip mall on Durand Ave, the somewhat simple facade hides an incredible quilting and sewing treasure!

What can you find at sew ‘n Save quilt shop

As the shop continues to expand, Sew ‘N Save quilt shop has pretty much everything you could ever want or need!

Need a sewing machine?

Sew ‘N Save offers a wide selection of Janome and Elna sewing machines. Everything from a basic straight stitch to the top of the line embroidery, there’s a machine for you!
Oh, and did I mention they also offer in house sewing machine repair!?

Looking for a Sewing Machine Table?

I’ve seen many, many quilt shops that offer various sewing machines. However, this is the first (for me) that also offers hand made sewing machine tables by Tracey’s Tables!!

Looking for fabric?

I must give this shop an A+++ in their use of space! The fabric side of the shop boasts several fabric shelves in a creative pattern to fit in even more bolts of fabric!

You’ll find pre-cuts and kits, batiks to blenders, children prints to novelties and everything in between!

And be sure to check every nook and cranny for fun and unique quilting treasures!

Workshops

Sew ‘N Save has a tremendous classroom! With space large enough to fit a good size workshop and room to spare!

Post COVID, the shop is working on getting more teachers back in person to add sewing and quilting classes. However, they do also offer use of the classroom for groups that would like to come and create!

Quilters, sewists and knitters are all welcome!

Sew ‘N Save Charity work

One thing that makes this particular shop stand out amongst all the shops I’ve visited across the US is their charity work.

As I spoke with the owner and staff they all listed tons of various charities they are a part of throughout the year. Here’s just a few of the things the shop is involved in:

Pillow cases for homeless shelter.
Pillow cases & other drives for homeless vets
Quilts for soldiers
Quilts for kids who’ve lost parent(s)
Making reusable menstrual pads for women’s & homeless shelters
Recycled mittens for kids at public schools
Placemats for the ‘Meals on Wheels’ program
Annual drives to support the community
And the Angle Gowns – sewn and donated to babies that have passed away.
