Quilt Babble LIVE Episode 7
Show Notes
So, how did we do? After 1 month of work, Lisa and I managed to make quite a bit of progress on our work spaces for the Spring Clean Challenge! Unfortunately, Steve (aka ‘The voice of Oz’) needed a little extra time for his work space.
NOT TO WORRY!
Because we didn’t receive as many ‘after’ photos as we did ‘before’, we agreed to extend the deadline to get organized and get those photos in!
In this episode we also discussed:
- Organizational tips for how we ‘Spring Cleaned’ our spaces
- Batting Controversy – Do YOU have a batting Stash?
- Creative storage ideas
- Unique ideas for organization in small sewing spaces
- And, of course, TONS of fun!

I took the challenge!
Here are my before and after photos and how I found a place for everything and everything in it’s place. 😀

My new sewing room has a floor!!! When I first put everything together, I quickly realized how dark that corner was where my cutting and work tables are. I needed more light!
So, I went to the store and found these FABULOUS String Lights and they work perfectly! Not only do they provide the extra light I need, but they help give that wall a more comfy / homey feel. Now I just need to get the rest of my inspiration and peg boards up on the wall!

Wanna know how I organize my UFO’s and finished quilt samples?
For all my UFO’s, I put each of them inside THESE fabulous boxes. At about 12 x 12, each box has just enough room to hold the fabric required for each project as well as finished blocks waiting to be put together!
As for my quilt samples, when not in a suitcase waiting to be taken to a Guild or a Quilt Show, I wrap them around plain ole’ POOL NOODLES!
Because they spend so much time folded up inside suitcases, I try to limit the creases in them as much as possible. If quilts are folded up and creased for too long (think stored in a closet for months or years), the fabric can wear away in those creases. Pool Noodles can help prevent that wear and tear. 😀

This first picture on the left is the corner right next to my cutting table. That wire contraption thing actually holds 4 Wire Baskets. They’re perfect for not only catching my scraps, but also holding my in-process projects! I’m always working on more than one project at a time.
Once I put those drawers in there, the TV was just too short. Table Risers to the rescue!!
The second photo on the right is my ironing and ‘tools’ corner. Once finished, the peg boards will be on the wall holding all my wonderful rulers and templates ready at a moments notice! Be on the lookout for a little video on how we get that sucker up on the wall!
Oh, and that little 3-tier roller cart next to the ironing board… I’d be lost without it!!
